Accessibility Policy

Burnthebook Limited, including our subsidiary Design for Change, is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We believe that design is a tool for positive change, and accessibility is fundamental to our mission of creating inclusive, equitable, and human-centered digital experiences.

As we pursue B Corp Certification, accessibility is central to our commitment to social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. We view accessibility not as a compliance checkbox, but as an ethical imperative that ensures everyone can engage with our content, platforms, and services.

Standards and Guidelines

We aim to meet or exceed the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.

Where possible, we also adopt relevant best practices from:

  • The Equality Act 2010 (UK),
  • The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018,
  • Global principles from UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and
  • B Corp’s performance standards related to inclusivity, employee wellbeing, and community engagement.

What We’re Doing

To make our digital experiences accessible, we:

  • Design with inclusion from the outset, embedding accessibility into our creative, UX, and technical processes.
  • Use semantic HTML, ARIA roles, and accessible component libraries to support screen readers and keyboard navigation.
  • Maintain color contrast ratios and scalable text to assist users with visual impairments.
  • Test our websites and applications using automated tools and manual audits with keyboard-only navigation and screen readers.
  • Engage with people who have lived experience of disabilities to inform and validate our solutions.
  • Train our teams—from designers to developers—on inclusive practices and accessibility guidelines.

Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We perform regular internal reviews, implement feedback from users, and update our processes to align with new standards and technologies. We also partner with clients to help them build accessible digital products.
