A Book to Drive Social Change
Onboard needed a powerful tool to tell their story, one that celebrated their community roots while showcasing their real-world impact. We created a printed book packed with photography, quotes, and stats, striking a fine balance between the raw and vibrant energy that fuels them and the professional manner with which they conduct their organisation to appeal for funders.
The design pairs bold fonts and layouts with a simple colour palette to highlight key messages and stats and drive home the value they provide. The interwoven narrative focuses on lived experiences from young people whose lives have been changed by Onboard, while clearly outlining how the model could be scaled and reproduced in other communities across the country.

A Bold Design for a Bold Mission
The book design reflects the essence of skate and BMX culture – dynamic, daring, and unapologetic – while amplifying the serious, transformative work Onboard does. Big images, striking text placement, and bold typographic choices all help bring energy and authenticity to the important stories the book contains.

Real Voices, Real Results
With direct quotes and true stories from young people, staff, families and carers, the book gives a platform to the voices that matter most. It connects readers emotionally, with heartfelt stories backed up by key stats and valuable outcomes. The response to the publication was immediate – and overwhelmingly positive!
The Power of Print
This book was more than a printed asset – it was a movement starter. Featured on BBC Look North, it helped to raise Onboard’s profile and build momentum for securing new premises. The project truly showcased how grassroots sport can change lives and communities in so many ways.
This work was also completed as part of our wider CSR initiative, using our skills to give back to causes that matter. Onboard continues to grow its reach and impact, and we’re proud to have played a part in helping them take that next big leap.
